Brotato Item Sets: Turn Off Primal Dread DLC
Update 1.2 adds Item Sets on the character select screen. Toggle whole DLC packs or free updates like Paws & Claws without uninstalling.
What does Item Set do in Update 1.2?
Item Set is a free Quality-of-Life feature in Update 1.2.0.0. Evil Empire’s Update 1.2 announcement says each set controls the entire content from an extension or free update—characters, weapons, items, and other pieces tied to that pack—not single-item checkboxes.
You can:
- Run vanilla Brotato by deactivating everything.
- Drop only pets by deactivating Paws & Claws while keeping Abyssal Terrors, Primal Dread, or other free updates active.
- Mix sets before each run.
The menu lives on the Character Selection screen. In-game wording may read Item Set or Item Sets; the patch notes use both.

How do you open Item Set and toggle a DLC?
Evil Empire did not publish click-by-click screenshots in the patch notes. The flow they describe:
- Update Brotato to 1.2.0.0 or later (2 November 2026 alongside Primal Dread).
- Open Character Selection.
- Open the Item Set entry on that screen—not buried in unrelated options menus.
- Activate or deactivate each owned extension or free update as a whole (all sets off for vanilla, or Paws & Claws off only, per the official examples).
- Start the run. Shops and rewards pull from enabled sets only for that run.
How does turning off DLC affect drops?
Official text explains intent, not drop-rate math:
- Disabling a set removes that pack’s content from the run pool—fewer weapons, items, and characters competing for shop slots and rewards.
- Enabling only the sets you want is how you keep base game plus Primal Dread but skip pets from Paws & Claws.
Evil Empire does not publish exact percentages for shop odds after toggling sets.
Disabling the Primal Dread set should remove that DLC’s content from the run pool; check the exact label in your menu. When the set is on, pair runs with the Jungle map guide and Evolution overview.

Which sets exist, and what about achievements?
Examples named in Update 1.2:
| Set mentioned officially | What toggling implies |
|---|---|
| All sets off | Vanilla-style content only |
| Paws & Claws off, others on | No pet content from that free update |
| Individual extensions (Abyssal Terrors, Primal Dread, etc.) | Whole DLC pack in or out |
There is no official table mapping every weapon class to a set label. Names in the menu match the extensions you own.
Achievements and unlock progress while sets are disabled are not documented in the 1.2 patch notes.
Item Set vs uninstalling DLC or using mods
| Approach | Official use case |
|---|---|
| Item Set (1.2) | Shrink content pools while keeping DLC installed |
| Uninstall DLC | Removes access entirely |
| Workshop mods | Separate system; can break after 1.2 |
Console players waiting on Primal Dread’s console release should expect Item Set to arrive with Update 1.2 on those platforms, but Evil Empire has not dated that rollout.
